Position Summary

The District Sales Manager leads the strategic coverage of all on premise product sales in distributor’s territory. Delivers volume and profit growth on off premise channels on a monthly and annual, customer and brand basis. Develops sales team through delivery of territory key performance indicators. Creates and deploys long term strategic vision with key local accounts. Develops and motivates sales team.

Essential Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops an effective marketing and sales plan in order to maximize product sales and achieve goals within established and new customers.
  • Plans and executes sales and promotional activities that effectively counter competitive trends by establishing goals for individual territories, and distribution standards for brands.
  • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business for the organization.
  • Surveys market area to detect business trends and opportunities for new products or new applications for existing products.
  • Develops, trains and directs sales reps to achieve sales goals.
  • Conducts weekly, in house, sales meetings and daily conference meetings for the purpose of disseminating supplier information, product and sales training and to obtain feedback on the effectiveness, efficiency and relevance of the sales and promotional activities.
  • Provides leadership in making decisions, developing personnel, communicating with and motivating staff.
  • Conducts ongoing training and development of sales representatives through continued instruction on field training, market surveys and observance of sales team meetings.
  • Responsible for enforcing all company policies and ensuring that employees are reporting their time through the mobile system as required and that their time is being reviewed and approved accordingly.
  • Provides sales account management support, analyzes current and historical sales activity for assigned territory/accounts to identify opportunities and meet/exceed assigned monthly quotas and placement objectives.
  • Provides first line of customer support by using tools and techniques for documenting customer interactions, addressing circumstances and behaviors that lead to customer dissatisfaction and asking questions that can facilitate movement from problem to resolution stage.
  • Controls and manages sales performance by measuring and reporting results, evaluating and correcting performance and administering policies and procedures.
  • Assists customers with inventory management responsibilities (product availability/new product placement and rotation of stock).
  • Troubleshoots and supports team on complex customer issues.
  • Identifies and capitalizes on marketplace competitive concerns and opportunity gaps while maintaining a cost/benefit positive focus.
  • Introduces/rolls-out new products and implement promotions in assigned accounts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and contributed to the success of the specialty division.

  • At least 5 years of industry related sales experience within the distribution, hospitality or supplier community.
  • High School Diploma and related industry degree preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years leadership experience.
  • Excellent sales background with solid understanding of company selling procedures.
  • Proficient at calculating commissions, percentages, and reviewing comparative sales data for analysis.
  • Solid leadership capabilities with strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivate and develop a team and keep them engaged.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, listening and written.
  • Capable of seeking out new ideas, exhibit initiative and be proactive.
  • Managing complex customer relationships.
  • Excellent Negotiation and Influencing Skills.
  • Must have valid Florida driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Must have insured personal vehicle (coverage limit 100/300) for transportation.
