Under the general supervision of the President/CEO, the incumbent is responsible for securing and managing distributors, field sales reps/District Managers within the Region to meet planned territory sales objectives. The position requires that the incumbent secure adequate distribution channels within the Region to ensure proper coverage and market penetration. The incumbent is also required to assist his/her direct supervisor in developing realistic sales plans that will ensure profitable long-range growth. The region will including the following states: ND, SD, MN, WI, IO, IL, NE, MO, WY, CO, KS, and OK.

Specific Responsibilities/requirements:

  • Develop positive relationships Working with the field sales team secure orders through phone and personal calls on traditional distributors, national accounts, w.d’s, equipment specialists, buying groups, oil jobbers and other customers within the assigned region to meet planned objectives.
  • Secure adequate distribution within the region to ensure appropriate coverage and market penetration.
  • Plan weekly management and sales promotion activities to ensure that key distributor and customer relations are maintained, while prioritizing the most important issues and opportunities, so they may be addressed accordingly.

Identify key sales opportunities, either in the form of new distribution, National accounts or existing distribution to increase sales within the region. Communicate any such opportunities to his/her direct reports and supervisor.

  • Hire and retain the best sales talent for the region.by networking and creating relationships in the industry with complementary companies and products.
  • Secure market information pertaining to new product needs, program opportunities, national account opportunities, competitive issues, and distributor issues/opportunities for communication, review, and direct field action.
  • Prepare and submit weekly sales/activity and expense reports for his/her direct supervisor.
  • Working with field sales, assist with quotes, BOM’s competitive crossovers and system design.
  • Daily contact with field sales reps/DM’s, customers, customer service representatives and credit manager. Weekly, or as needed, interaction with customer service supervisor and marketing coordinator.
  • Working with Insight, monitor project activity and involve distributors and reps when necessary. Create a list of architects from Insight to actively call on and support; ultimately getting Samson Corporation’s product specified on projects.
  • Manage and assess the field sales reps/DM’s training needs and develop specific territory plans and programs to improve their ability to grow territory sales, city by city, market by market. Educate field sales people on the features and benefits of Samson’s product offering to improve their ability to sell to our distributors and National Accounts.as well as all other market segments.
  • Overnight travel will be required and will average 50% of the time.
  • Professional appearance is required. Appropriate dress is business casual; khaki type pants, professional golf type shirt or collared dress shirts. Beards are allowed but must be kept groomed with a professional appearance. Employee should present themselves in a professional manner at all times.

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

High school education required. Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Marketing preferred. Preference of two (2) years’ experience in the lubrication industry and/or automotive aftermarket. Strong background in selling to and through distribution. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Valid driver’s license. Desired intermediate computer skills to include Microsoft Office and basic database management.
