Product and Program Specialist

The Product and Program Specialist is responsible for developing and managing present and future product lines beginning with conception. The ideal candidate will be able to development promotional strategies, provide support for sales programs and communicate our programs to brokers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Management:

  • Manage product specifications, documents and details of sales programs
  • Prepare short-term and long-term product sales forecasts, reports and analyses
  • Develop pricing strategies: maintain product pricing and
  • Create product master plans for existing and future products
  • Establish, review and manage the B2B electronic ordering and pricing templates
  • Prepare ROI (Return on Investment) analyses and assess position against competitors
  • Provide source data for product line communications
  • Coordinate communication with internal departments to ensure pertinent program and product information is conveyed (i.e. Sales, QCIC, Shipping, Customer Relations etc.)
  • Train internal and external staff on how to explain and sell products
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of the marketing collateral and materials

*Product Marketing:

  • Provide input and assist in the development of promotional strategies and collateral to explain and promote product features and benefits, sales tools and training materials
  • Maintain marketing collateral in form of catalogs, website content and brochures
  • Conduct market research and monitor industry trends and statistics.
  • Assist Marketing team with event and trade show planning, and execution

Sales Support

  • Train broker sales, customer service and office staff on products and programs
  • Manage and maintain relationships with broker internal office staff
  • Work closely with National Sales Manager on forecasts, and analysis
  • Develop and maintain strong marketing partnerships with Proven Winners partners, Proven Winners contacts, key accounts, brokers and suppliers

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possesses excellent time management, planning, organization, decision making, and project management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and the ability to learn custom software (PICAS) is necessary
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Proficient in written language; meticulous attention to detail is a must for document creation, editing and proofreading
  • Knowledge of business, management and marketing principles involved in strategic planning and methods for showing, promoting, demonstrating and techniques to sell products or services
  • Well versed in database creation and management
  • Results-driven individual with a strong sense of initiative, accountability and
  • Possesses exceptional quantitative and business analysis skills
  • 5-10% travel is required

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years product management experience
  • Horticulture Industry experience strongly preferred
