• West Jordan, UtahCypress Magazines, a 28-year-old magazine publisher, seeks a director of business and marketing to work on titles in legal education and help the titles take advantage of their strong market position to grow revenue in new ways, primarily through digital offerings.
We publish The National Jurist, a magazine and website for law students , preLaw, a magazine for prospective law students, SmartLawyer, a website for young attorneys, and International Jurist, a digital magazine for foreign attorneys interested in studying in the U.S.
The director of business and marketing would oversee ad sales for all titles, supervising two salespeople. This person would also oversee marketing efforts to help promote ad sales, ancillary sales, and readership promotion. The position reports directly to the President of the company.
Candidates must have a successful sales record, preferably in media, and must show this on their resume. They should also highlight their success in a cover letter.
Candidates must have experience supervising others, and should highlight this in a cover letter.
Candidates should have marketing skills and talent, and highlight this in a cover letter, if not readily apparent in the resume.
A law degree is not necessary, but would be a big advantage. A college degree is necessary. Please do not apply if you do not have one.
Cypress Magazines was founded in 1991 in the Washington, D.C. region and we still have 4 employees located there, mostly sales and event staff that work on our golf titles. We opened a San Diego office in 2002 and have 5 employees located there, mostly editorial staff. We opened a West Jordan, Utah office in 2017 and employ 4 audience development staff in that location. Two other salespeople work from their homes in other locations.

Salary: $60,000.00 to $100,000.00 /year
