SUMMARY: Sells products for manufacturer or distributor to business and industrial establishments or individuals at sales office, store, showroom, or customer’s place of business by performing the following duties and other duties as directed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources

  • Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers on the sales floor, or by phone or e-mail

  • Displays or demonstrates product using samples or catalog and emphasizes sell-able features

  • Coordinates quote prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained. Quotes must come directly from the Sales Coordinator that are signed by an approved authorized manager

  • Estimate date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm’s production and delivery schedules

  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts

  • Work with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date

  • Tracks stock levels

  • Coordinates customer training

  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into database

  • Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts

  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries

  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports in weekly and monthly reports, and on an annual basis

  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing company sales goals directives

Education and/or Experience- Two year college or university program certificate and one to

two years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and

experience would be essential.


Language Skills- Have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.

Mathematical Skills- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamental of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
