Position Summary:

The Applications Engineer Position is responsible for providing engineering support to the customer regarding the maintenance of existing designs and the development of new business. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and working with the Engineering team as well as the VP of Sales the Applications Engineer engages the customer’s Engineering, Quality and Purchasing departments to ensure they understand their technical requirements so that they can deliver cost effective solutions that meet the customer’s needs.

The Applications Engineer will personally handle key account’s project engineering needs and will also delegate additional customer work to an assigned Project Engineer to provide the needed customer support (RFQ, Sample, New Part, ECO, Trouble shooting, Cost savings exercise, etc).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site technical engineering support to key accounts, existing and potential customers
  • Perform or delegate project engineering needs including:
    • Request for Quotes
    • New Part Processing
    • Engineering Change Orders
    • Sample Costing
    • Cost Savings Projects
    • Bill of Material and print creation
    • Review Project Engineer’s work before providing to the customer
    • Coordinate and report customer related activities to the VP of Sales
    • Meet monthly with appropriate VP of Sales to review account activity.
    • Attend periodic Project Meetings in order to understand project status as well as to provide updates on deliverables
    • Create and maintain project management tasks through completion
Education and Professional Requirements:
  • 4-year bachelors of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
  • 5-years related experience required in wire harness and battery cable industry
Technical Requirements:
  • Must have experience using Microsoft Office Applications
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Must have experience working in cross functional teams
  • Travel required
  • Must have a customer focused attitude
