Title: Retail Sales Analyst

Reports to: Sales Administration Director

Position Objective:

Provide management with an accurate forecast that can be used to drive financial statements as well as production plans. Work with production to adjust manufacturing schedules and manage inventory levels. Analyze point of sale information, track trends with major customers, and report business trends to sales managers and upper management. Assist sales managers in executing business objectives based on identified trends. Manage the liquidation of obsolete finished goods and assist in using up excess component inventory.

Responsibilities:

30% 1 Manage the development and maintenance of the Professional Finishing sales forecasting process including analysis of forecast, point of sale information and sales history on a weekly basis. Responsible for the distribution of forecast to planners and master schedulers to ensure inventory availability to meet our customer's expectations including on time delivery.

20% 2 Assist sales managers in executing business objectives, help develop presentations based on POS findings, and conduct customer trainings.

20% 3 Manage inventories of all Professional Finishing products through forecast accuracy and communicate with sales managers regarding inventory and forecast issues.

10% 4 Support month end process and address issues concerning customer requirements.

10% 5 Develop a variety of reports for sales department and management containing information needed for managing Professional Finishing business including point of sale history and margin detail.

5% 6 Work with sales managers to address obsolete inventory and get product re-worked or sold through.


Relationship to others:

Works with National Account Managers, VP of Sales, Product Management and Marketing to develop the forecast and discuss issues in the marketplace. Provides forecast to production planners to ensure product availability and to Finance for development of accurate P&L statements. Communicates with buyers as needed to determine customer needs and address inventory issues.


Dimensions of Position:

Works with confidential data such as costs, daily sales figures, customer pricing, customers inventory data, customer's forecasts, budget information, and sales forecast. Access to shipment reports, month end numbers, business plans and costs. Will review sales history, sales analysis information, and customer point of sale data.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Education

High school graduate required. College degree preferred


Experience

Minimum 3+ years experience in retail sales with emphasis on analysis, or equivalent experience.


Skills/Abilities Required

  • Requires advanced computer skills including MS Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, Datatracker or similar sales analysis tool.
  • Must communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Requires excellent analytical, critical thinking, and complex problem solving/reasoning skills.
