Job Overview

As part of Komatsu’s North American SMART Construction & intelligent Machine Control marketing team, the SMART Construction Solutions Manager will have responsibilities to support the development and delivery of jobsite enhancing solutions. This position will be focused on identifying new opportunities for and validating in market an expanding portfolio of software, hardware, and services to support Komatsu’s strategic SMART Construction initiatives.


Scope


The SMART Construction Solutions Manager will have a set territory, responsible for those Komatsu distributors (up to 10) and customers within that region of North America. Measurable targets for success include:

  • Conducting a set amount of in-person customer/distributor site visits, trainings and demonstrations.
  • Authoring a significant number of reports including jobsite studies, promotional pieces, and misc. presentations


This position does not have any direct reports nor annualized sales volumes at this time.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Collect voice of customer regarding pain points & technology/service/support needs by directly visiting customer job sites and working with regional sales staff/distribution. Responsible for coordinating surveys, creating questionnaires, and hosting customer interviews to acquire this data.
  • Promote to end users and distribution the most effective methods of adoption/use of intelligent Machine Control & SMART Construction solutions via application studies, jobsite training, jobsite demonstrations, and marketing material generation (print, video, web).
  • Support the drive for continued development of core products and related jobsite enhancing technologies. This includes generating a deep understanding of the construction industry, jobsite operations, and customer opportunities.
  • Lead machine & off-machine technology field-follow performance validation efforts relating to new product introduction/improvement. This includes defining scope, establishing schedule, traveling to the field, collecting data, and presenting analyzed results.
  • Develop/maintain competency in the actual operation of off-highway machinery, associated off-machine technologies (drone/UAV/UAS, GNSS base/rover), and targeted software applications.
  • Bring energy/ambition/innovation to the team to aggressively pursue goals, enacting real change within the Komatsu organization and at the customer job site. Creatively work with other teams/departments to overcome obstacles and maximize limited resources.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • University degree (B.S./B.A.) in Engineering or Business highly preferred, and/or an extensive equivalent experience (10+yrs) in construction, quarry, or mining applications.
  • Off-highway OEM experience and/or operational knowledge of earthmoving equipment and technology (including Topcon, Trimble, Leica 3D machine control systems) is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills supported by superior presentation and communication skills, including computer proficiency (MS Office, application tools as required).
  • Highly organized and efficient time manager, especially relating to optimizing travel and customer/product visits.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex technical situations, determine root cause, identify actions and lead resolution and implementation.

Additional Information

Focused on the South region of North America, this position will be based out of Cartersville, GA or an approved field/home office that is within the territory. Expect substantial in territory jobsite travel (over 50%) for collaboration with end use customers, distribution, key technology partners, and other Komatsu employees. This position reports to the Sr. Product Manager, SMART Construction & intelligent Machine Control.
