The National Account Manager is on the front line of creating and implementing a program of national electrical rep agencies by identify, recruiting, developing, and maintaining business relationships. Work with agencies to build relationships with the electrical distributor, targeted end users, and electric engineering firms. Another focus is to be the lead in managing the Affiliated Distributor (AD) channel.

Essential Position Functions

Leadership

  • Establish and maintain a positive, productive work environment
  • Lead and manage sales team/rep agency activities and results through a defined sales and sales management process
  • Develop annual sales plans with assigned rep agencies.
  • Spearhead all new business opportunities with end users
  • Work on day-to-day actives while providing strategic vision for future opportunities
  • Develop customer penetration plans, execute the plan and deliver results

Technical Experience

  • Champion of selling for understanding tap box applications and leads technical conversations
  • Understands generator and emergency backup systems
  • Understands electrical equipment and applications
  • Can read a one-line diagram

Communication Skills

  • Speak clearly and persuasively in positive and difficult situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer, service and quality orientation, including ability to resolve issues quickly, process documentation, and understanding of how the technology supports the end-user’s business needs.
  • Work closely with marketing to ensure strong execution of initiatives and campaigns

Position Requirements: Education, Knowledge, Training, Experience, Licenses, Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years outside sales experience, preferably selling generator/gear products
  • Prefer at least 5 years of sales management experience
  • Able to operate and communicate effectively, within a matrix organization, across a variety of functional departments including senior management, branch management, sales management, division management, purchasing, product management and marketing
  • Solid computer skills and competent in all Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated track record of selling or leading the sales effort at the highest level in a customer organization with a solution-based sale
  • Familiarity with and ability to manage through a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system
  • Ability to be productive and efficient in an unstructured work environment.
