Unique Vacations, Inc., the affiliate to the Worldwide Representatives for Sandals, Beaches, and Grand Pineapple Resorts, is currently looking for a Business Development Manager.

This position is based in or near Dover, DE. Must be located close to a major international airport.

Sandals & Beaches Resorts are located on 7 idyllic island destinations spanning the Caribbean – Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Turks & Caicos, and Antigua. Each resort offers the new standard of exotic luxury and unmatched beauty and delivers far more than any other five-star resort on the planet because at Sandals and Beaches, everything you could possibly imagine is included and then some – idyllic settings, pristine white-sand beaches, thrilling water-sports, land sports so there’s always something fun to do, more bars and entertainment, pampering at the Red Lane Spa, plus Discovery Dining at a vast array of gourmet restaurant options from around the world.

To be successful in this position requires a huge commitment. There will be many overnights stays within your region. The BDM position is for the Sales & Marketing expert, that isn't afraid of hard work and being measured by sales numbers.

The BDM has the ability to develop their own region and earn a production incentive based on sales. This position will require many overnights, anywhere from 3 to 4 nights a week, to possibly upwards to 5 nights a week, and in some cases, they may be asked to temporarily relocate to a region to offer support during a transitional period.

The position includes a major element of administrative work, along with business development and marketing all the while being on the road!

For most of the locations a wrapped company car may not be readily available. However, we will extend a monthly car-allowance for the use of your personal vehicle. Typically a Company Vehicle may take up to 6 months to receive.

The car allowance is given as an assistance for the cost of gas, insurance, wear & tear and maintenance of your personal vehicle.

We also ask that the candidate have a personal credit card, which will be needed for business expenses (expenses will be reimbursed by the company within 2 weeks).

  • The ability to grow business within a designated territory utilizing your own combination of wit, charm, tenacity, dedication, salesmanship, and grace under pressure
  • The ability to drive and/or travel away from home every week & extensively as needed
  • The ability to work weekend events in your region and host trips to the Caribbean (will involve nights & weekends)
  • The ability to self-motivate & work independently from a home office without direct supervision
  • The ability to prioritize, organize, and execute many activities, all at once, while maintaining a certain amount of flexibility and dealing with consistent changes
  • The ability to maintain professionalism in social situations
  • The ability to clearly articulate information via written and oral communication including public speaking, slide presentations, and webinars, often to large groups
  • The ideal candidate will have a high level of proficiency with email, Power-point, Outlook, Excel, Word, and most Social Media Platforms
  • The ability to manage administrative tasks while traveling overnight
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong inter-personal skills; the ability to build and maintain relationships with accounts, peers, and clients
  • The ability to lift boxes of collateral (up to 50lbs) and set up booth displays
  • Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record and valid passport

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing strategic business relationships with industry partners and other potential customers. This individual will take the lead in the development of new business opportunities that supports the company overall growth strategy. In this key position, you will work closely with marketing, sales, and product management teams to achieve established sales goals and implement business development initiatives that maximize and grow Sandals & Beaches Resorts footprint and generate bottom line revenue for the company. The Business Development Manager reports to the Regional Director of the territory.

The Business Development Manager is the driving force behind generating new sales leads and contacts. The Business Development Manager impacts the number of clients booking Sandals, Beaches, and Grand Pineapple by servicing, educating, and building relationships in a proactive, professional manner within his/her assigned territory at the Travel Agent, Tour Operator, and Tourist Board levels. This individual is responsible for growing new business by helping travel agencies develop marketing plans and reach booking goals via utilization of the vast tools available through the Certified & Preferred Specialist Programs.

The Business Development Manager position requires an outgoing, positive, professional attitude, strong communication and time management skills, teamwork and the ability to work evenings and weekends. This role requires extensive travel and a major commitment. The Business Development Manager makes fact based decisions and follows through to completion, analyses and uses data to achieve sales goals, drives execution, initiates action and follow-ups to successful completion, effectively demonstrates how solutions will solve prospects or client’s problem(s), continuously conducts post call debriefs and performs pre-call strategies.

The Business Development Manager must maintain frequent communication with his/her Regional Director, Senior Business Development Manager and Inside Sales Support as well as to maintain regular responsive communication and supportive relationships with all departments & key staff at head office. He/ She must attend regional meetings and annual national sales meeting. This individual is responsible for maintaining the required paperwork, expense reports and storage unit. Ensuring accuracy of information and current data in Infor and follow the proper procedures and supportive cooperation with all team members. This individual is required to adhere to company mandated dress code both within the territory and on property; Stay current with product knowledge and changes; Visit all resorts at least once a year and develop positive working relationships with key staff at the resorts.

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

DIRECT FUNCTION

  • Develop new business opportunities with Industry Partners and other potential customers at all stages of the sales cycle to include targeting, prospecting and presenting compelling business propositions.
  • Work closely with assigned accounts to ensure YOY production growth.
  • Must meet minimum pro-active activity requirements. (i.e. Sales calls, agent training etc.)
  • Manages day-to-day administrative and operations of the role.
  • Prepare and present powerful, persuasive sales presentations that effectively demonstrate the value proposition of Sandals & Beaches Resorts.
  • Develop and maintain a robust deal pipeline toward targeted entities to continuously grow the business and generate sales.
  • Maintain consistent sales growth by continuously establishing new accounts and maintaining existing accounts.
  • Develop and execute a strategic business plan that meets or exceeds established sales goals and supports Company revenue and profitability targets.
  • Prepare and give business reviews and presentations to the senior management team on a monthly basis.
  • Proactively monitors and strives to maintain high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in the sales planning efforts.
  • Works closely with the Sales team to deliver information and lead discussions required to drive sales strategy.
  • Works closely with the resort sales team to ensure agent interaction with the resorts.
  • Develops potential solutions to sales force effectiveness.
  • Works with the SVP of Sales to detect emerging customer or market trends and help determine how the business can meet those opportunities and challenges to drive greater sales success.
  • Ensure that polices are adhered.
  • Aligning the sales organization’s objectives with the overall business strategy through active participation in strategic planning and sales strategy development.
  • Motivate one-self to initiate activities: plan execute and account for activities in the company hosted CRM system.
  • Serving as a business representative at major industry events, conferences, trade shows, and expositions.
  • Helps sales and implementation teams optimize usage of Infor.
  • Has thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Special projects and responsibilities as necessary under the direction of SVP of Sales, Sr. National Director of Sales and Regional Directors.
  • May be required to complete certain projects as requested by Management.
  • May be required to travel outside of region when needed.
  • Will be required to attend company events as needed.

EXPERIENCE

Outlined below are the academic qualifications and length and type of experience deemed necessary by Unique Vacations Inc. in order to perform the role of Business Development Manager competently.

  • Education: Bachelor’s or equivalent combination of education and work experience in Management, Hospitality or Sales and Marketing.
  • Experience: 3-5 years business development or management; Experience with Luxury brand and/or travel industry preferred.

We do understand there may be homebased Travel Agent accounts. As safety is always paramount to and for our teams, our current practice prohibits sales calls and/or events being conducted at the home of homebased agents (whether zoned or otherwise).

Will be eligible for additional earnings as outlined in the incentive document, as such the yearly base salary is capped and exempt from receiving annual pay increases.

BDM Salary: $50,000 at start, after 6 months and receiving a satisfactory review increase to $55,000.00 /year.
