Description/Qualifications

Our Patient Account Representatives perform a wide variety of duties in support of the department, which may include, but are not limited to medical billing, account follow up, and credit balance review for complex (high dollar and/or specialty) accounts requiring advanced knowledge of multi-payer system and all specialty billing procedures and contracts.

Successful candidates have the ability to:

  • Research and audit for clean claim submission, denied, and unpaid accounts.
  • Accurately and appropriately applies payments, discounts, reimbursement codes and denial codes based on interpretation of payer contracts and Explanation of Benefits.
  • Prepare bank deposits, reconciles each batch as it is posted, and prepares payment posting batches for scanning.
  • Contact third party payers and patients to gather additional information needed to properly apply payment related information.
  • Identify and assists patients with financial needs to include screening for financial assistance, loan programs, and community based programs.
  • Maintain familiarity with departmental needs as they relate to insurance billing and pre-authorization requirements, diagnoses, procedure, CPT, DRG, and CMG codes and stay up to date on governmental rules and regulations.

You may be an ideal fit if you:
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have experience in a medical billing or coding related field and you are familiar with Epic.
  • Have computer and math skills.
  • Have experience working with office machines such as: fax, telephone, computer/printer, 10-key, and copier.
  • Good clerical skills, excellent telephone etiquette, and good organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • You have a special skill for accuracy and attention to detail.
