IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The Area Director, Sales & Marketing is an Executive Committee member of the hotel team, and functions as the sales and marketing business leader for the hotel. The position provides direction, guidance, support, leadership and training to the property level sales and marketing professionals. The position also carries a sales production goal for assigned market segments and/or accounts. Collaborating with the General Manager, Director of Revenue Management, and the Regional/Corporate Sales and Revenue team, the ideal candidate will articulate and achieve the company’s goals and demonstrate a commitment to these goals through work ethic, integrity, passion, and respect for the Company and its associates.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for multiple properties within Atrium Hospitality.
  • Directly supervise all associates in the hotel Sales and Marketing department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the brand and management company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, assisting and directing activities.
  • Assist sales managers with the development and implementation of SMART Plans for assigned market segments. Develop personal SMART plans for assigned markets/accounts. Monitor results and progress during weekly one-on-one meetings.
  • Conduct and/or participate in the required company standard meetings, including but not limited to daily Sales stand up meeting, daily operations meeting, daily business review meeting, weekly sales meetings, weekly revenue strategy meeting, weekly one-on-one with each sales manager, and weekly staff/Executive Committee meeting.
  • Conduct outside sales calls to cultivate existing customers and accounts and develop new business.
  • Define specific deployment and market/account responsibilities for self and all Sales Managers.
  • Ensure systems are established and in place to respond to customer needs within a defined response period. These may include, but are not limited to: telephone inquiries, bids, proposals, confirmation of bookings, thank you letters, follow up letters, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a file and trace system to ensure all sales call activity is defined, recorded, traced, and updated in an organized manner.
  • Review daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly results of all activities completed by the Sales Managers. Ensure all traces are completed and retraced where appropriate
  • Ensure the understanding and implementation of Brand sales initiatives, tools and resources.
  • Aggressively pursue all appropriate opportunities within designated market segments for outside customer solicitation and relationship building including: Outside Sales Calls, Civic Association Events, Trade Events, Industry Vendor Relationships, etc.
  • Conduct hotel tours and evaluate qualified potential clients in accordance with the company and property policies.
  • Contribute to the research and development of the annual strategic marketing plan, budget, and monthly forecasts.
  • Local community involvement as it benefits the hotel, via approved memberships in organizations.
  • Submit required weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the General Manager and Corporate staff. Analyze data for trends, corrective action, rate maximization, etc.
  • Actively participate in Month End Revenue Review Calls and Property Visits with Corporate staff.
  • Be able to understand and interpret market conditions, trends, and the competition by analyzing STAR data and sales month-end reports.
  • Contribute and work as a "team" member in all facets of the position.
  • Perform other services and duties as requested by the General Manager. May be called upon to host functions and participate in, or conduct sales blitzes, travel and work extended hours to achieve departmental goals.
  • Present a clean, pleasant and professional image to project a positive, polished appearance to staff, potential guests and clients.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience leading and managing a team
  • Demonstrated experience with industry specific sales programs including Microsoft Office products

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree or commensurate experience required
  • A minimum of four (4) years of Sales and Marketing experience
  • At least six (6) years of hotel, F&B or other related experience
  • Prior dual property experience across different hotel brands is preferred
  • Travel: 20%
