DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for meeting annual objectives and growth in Defense related business with Original Equipment Manufacturers. The BD Manager is the primary point of contact for the companies within his/her portfolio.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages a portfolio of OEM accounts for companies doing business with HDT.Product lines include heaters, ECUs, Gas Particulate Filter units, Shelters (soft sided and rigid walled) and all other HDT products
  • Develops and conducts the evaluation and implementation of new initiatives and business opportunities for the Company under direction of the senior business development leader
  • Provides strategic and tactical input to the senior business development leaders by evaluating new initiatives and business opportunities
  • Conducts analysis on market and competitive activities
  • Manages and influences the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract(s)
  • Responsible for working across functional areas and with Program Managers, Legal, Contracts, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Inside Sales
  • Responsible for marketing the company and its products, providing quotes to OEMs, negotiating contract pricing, closing sales and monitoring execution
  • Responsible for understanding customer requirements and how HDT can best meet those requirements including new or derivative product development within HDT's core competencies
  • Attends Trade Shows, customer meetings, and travels to OEM accounts and HDT's manufacturing facilities and for both internal customers and external customers
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards and expect reports to do likewise
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

BS in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration or related discipline. MBA preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Business Development, Engineering and/or Sales
  • Experience in DoD acquisition process required
  • Experience in business operations including but not limited to bookings, revenue and annual operating plans
  • Experience in capture management, proposal management and negotiations

OTHER JOB RELATED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Able to develop/create proposals, RFQs, non-disclosure agreements and teaming agreements
  • Sales and business development experience with major defense contractors
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing operations is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in company products, markets and technologies
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and financial skills
  • Customer focused
  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with management and personnel at all levels, customers and
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • SAP and/or Salesforce.com experience is a plus
  • Able to work extended hours and travel as required
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English
