The position of Procurement Specialist is within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit located at Scarborough, Maine. This role will support the company’s production activities through the procurement of goods and services. Supporting:
  • The manufacture of Company’s products,
  • Research & Development,
  • Facility and other Supporting Departments.
  • Supplier Quality Professionals
  • Supply Chain Goals and Metrics in the areas of cost savings, on-time delivery, and raw material inventory, and Supplier Performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work directly with suppliers to source new or existing parts, negotiate pricing, maintain delivery status, continuously review MRP planning parameters for inventory parts for accuracy, update these parameters when necessary, and react appropriately to MRP purchasing messages.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of production inventory by coordinating with production planning to determine proper timing of receipt of materials.
  • Support the implementation of cost improvement activities and cost control with suppliers through the efficient use of blanket purchase orders, corporate pricing, and/or direct price negotiation.
  • Accurately maintain delivery status in the MRP system for promise and actual delivery dates to support the tracking of on-time delivery metrics.
  • Establish non-standard methods of procurement, including Kan Ban programs, consignment, Just In Time, or other lean manufacturing strategies to reduce inventory levels and streamline material handling.
  • Maintain appropriate purchasing documentation to support Company Quality Management System (QMS) policies, as well as to support financial regulation requirements.

  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in buying position or equivalent work
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • ISM or APICS certification
  • Background in handling and production of biological and chemical materials
  • Experience working in an FDA regulated industry (ISO 13485)
  • Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma manufacturing concepts
  • Strong skills with the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Thorough knowledge of MRP systems and purchasing policies
  • Comfort working with vendors to negotiate pricing, delivery, and longer term supply arrangements
