Overview
The Department of Motor Vehicles in Bennington is seeking a Motor Vehicle Examiner II. This position will administer various types of exams including vision, written, and road exams conforming to the guidelines set forth in the Examiner’s Manuals. The incumbent will score and evaluate all exams according to the instructions in the procedure manuals and will clearly convey information to the applicant as it pertains to Vermont state laws.

The incumbent will process various motor vehicle transactions such as license, registration, and identification applications with a 1% or less error rate. Additionally, incumbent will calculate, collect, and process all fees without error using the Point of Sale system.

This position requires constant interaction both verbally and in writing with the general public and co-workers.

Other related duties include, but are not limited to:
Completing stock orders
Running the information desk
Traveling to other offices/work locations when needed

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in the field and require operating and riding in automobiles. Considerable human relations skills are required to deal with nervous, upset, or hostile applicants. Incumbents may be required to take over the operation of a motor vehicle in the interest of personal and public safety. Incumbents must be able to carry heavy objects of up to 50 pounds. Due to volume, certain positions may be rotated to various work stations. A uniform must be worn during work hours.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) or more years of work experience which includes public contact functions.

NOTE: A current, valid driver's license is required.

NOTE: An applicant's vision must be correctable to 20/40 (Snellen Test) in both eyes, with normal color perception and field of vision.

NOTE: A valid Commercial driver's license with all endorsements is required within 1-year of employment.

NOTE: Due to the Graduated Driver License, an applicant must be at least 25 years of age.
